JERRY BOCK & SHELDON KARNICK

Jerry Bock estudió piano desde los 9 años y a los 27 años ya trabajaba para espectáculos como el Zigfield Follies o musicales como “Mr. Wonderful”, pero el momento clave en su carrera fue cuando conoció a Sheldon Harnick, compositor y letrista, con el que estrenó en 1958 su primer musical “THE BODY BEAUTIFUL”.

Al año siguiente estrenaron “FIORELLO” (1960) contando la historia del alcalde de Nueva York, durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, que con el apoyo de Roosvelt hizo frente a una poderosa organización política y con este musical ganaron tres Tony y el Pulitzer de drama en 1960.

Sus siguientes musicales fueron “TENDERLOIN” (1960), “MAN IN THE MOON” (1963), “SHE LOVES ME” (1963), “EL VIOLINISTA EN EL TEJADO” (1964), “THE APPLE TREE” (1967), “THE CANTERVILLE GHOST” (1966), “TRAFALGAR” basado en los últimos años del almirante Nelson y “THE ROTHSCHILDS” (1970).
