2012 DRAMA DESK

Las nominaciones a los Premios Drama Desk que se hicieron públicas el pasado 27 de Abril de 2012 y que en cierto modo son considerados como la antesala de los Premios Tony, ayer día 3 de Junio de 2012, dieron a conocer los vencedores en cada categoría que destacamos señalándolos en rojo.

Llama la atención algún detalle como que apareciese:

DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY un musical de Maury Yeston que se estrenó en un teatro Off-Broadway en Junio de 2011 y por una temporada limitadísima, es la pieza que se alzó con el mayor número de candidaturas: DIEZ y que terminó sin ningún premio. Este musical estaba empatado a candidaturas con el FOLLIES de Stephen Sondheim que vino transferido de su producción del Kennedy Center y que finalmente coniguió 3 premios (mejor revival, actor y diseño de vestuario).

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT parecía partir como la triunfadora de este año, por estar recien estrenada y por tanto más presente en la mente de los votantes, además de ser nueva, tener a Gershwin y Katheleen Marshall detrás y a Matthew Broderick y Kelli O’Hara delante y partir con  OCHO nominaciones, aunque también consiguió como “Follies” 3 premios (actor y actriz de reparto y libreto).

No podemos hablar este año de “Gran Triunfadora” ya que los premios han estado muy repartidos y aunque “ONCE” haya sido el musical que ha conseguido más premios, 4 de los 5 a que estaba nominado (musical, dirección, letras y  orquestaciones), casi nos hace ver que este año el nivel no era el de otras ediciones.

El resto de nominaciones estaban muy repartidas y casi ninguna consiguió el premio LEAP OF FAITH y QUEEN OF THE MIST (6 nominaciones), CARRIE, EVITA, NEWSIES, PORGY AND BESS (5 nominaciones), BONNIE & CLYDE (4 nominaciones) y JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (2 nominaciones).
