2013 TONY AWARDS

Anoche, domingo 9 de Junio de 2013 se desvelaron los ganadores de los Premios TONY, en la ceremonia que tuvo lugar en el Radio City Music Hall de New York, presentada por Neil Patrick Harris, como siempre con un número incicial espectacular en cuanto a concepción, mezclando personajes de todos los musicales actualmente en cartel en Broadway y en la letra de la canción, no perdieron ocasión de lanzar su puya particular al éxito del musical “Los Miserables” en cine, diciendo que ellos no necesitan del primer plano para lucirse, y que lo de cantar en directo es algo que en Broadway lo hacen ocho veces por semana. Todo el Radio City Music Hall premio el número aplaudiendo en pie al final del mismo.

Neil Patrick Harris se permitió algunas bromas sugiriendo a los productores nuevos proyectos, juntando grandes obras de texto con grandes musicales, apareciendo un nuevo género los “play-sicals” que podrían dar origen a éxitos como “THE ELEPHANT MEN-OF LA MANCHA” o “CATS-ON A HOT TIN ROOF” o “THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK-ENSTEIN The musical”, “VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE-RMAN TURN OFF DARK”, etc.

También tuvo su número simpático en el que algunos actores de musicales se metían con Neil Patrick Harris y la suerte de caer en una serie de televisión de éxito, frente a la inseguridad de estar en un musical o una obra de teatro, que puede ser cancelada de la noche a la mañana y aparecieron cantando Laura Benanti (The ladies who lunch), Megan Hilty (You Gotta Get a Gimmick), Andrew Rannells (America) y Neil Patrick Harris (What I did for love), con algunos cambios en la letras.

Andrew Lloyd Webber ya había anunciado que no podría estar presente en la ceremonia, como tampoco pudo acudir en Enero a la celebración del 25 aniversario de su megaéxito “THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA“, haciendo público que había sido operado en dos ocasiones de la espalda y por eso el homenaje que rendía Broadway a la obra más longeva en Broadway de todos los tiempos, fue presentada por el legendario director Harold Prince, mientras que del homenaje a los que nos han abandonado este año, en el clásico espacio “In memoriam” fue acompañado por Cyndy Lauper cantando el tema “True colors”.

Las obras que partían como favoritas eran “KINKY BOOTS” con 13 nominaciones de las que se hizo con SEIS PREMIOS, seguida de “MATILDA” que empató a CUATRO con “PIPPIN“, en lo referente al apartado musical, mientras que en el teatro de texto las más premiadas fueron “¿Quién teme a Virginia Wolf?” y “The Nance” empatadas a TRES premios.
