2016 TONY AWARDS

Ayer a las 20 horas se celebraba la Gala de los Premios Tony, en su edición número 70 en el Beacon Theatre de New York, presentada por James Corden, en la que como apuntaban todas las encuestas se alzó “HAMILTON” como la gran ganadora de la noche al conseguir ONCE premios de los 16 a los que estaba nominada, “perdiendo” sólo en las categorías de mejor actriz en un musical que merecidamente se llevó Cynthia Erivo por su papel en “THE COLOR PURPLE” y en diseño escénico en un musical que lo ganó David Rockwell por “SHE LOVES ME“, no consiguiendo romper el record de musical más premiado en la historia de los Tony, que sigue teniendo “THE PRODUCERS” desde que ganó DOCE estatuillas en la ceremonia de 2001.

En cuanto a obras de texto las más premiadas fueron “THE HUMANS” con cuatro estatuillas, seguida de “A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE” (Panorama desde el puente) y “LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT” (Larga jornada hacia la noche), las conocidas obras de Arthur Miller y Eugene O’Neil que consiguieron DOS premios cada una.
